Apple Blossom Invitational Meet Summary MileSplit Staff Apr 30, 2006

Led by Charles Washingtons four individual victories in the 100 meter dash (10.9), 200 meter dash (22.0), long jump (21\'2.50\"), and triple jump (42\'2.50\") as well as anchoring the first place 4x400 meter relay, the John Handley boys ran away with the team title by over 50 points at the Apple Blossom Invitational. Meanwhile, Penn Relays discus champion Natalie Baird of Park View fresh off uncorking a 144\'3\" personal best throw in the discus at Penn, threw even farther at James Wood High School as she broke her own meet record with a 148\'10\" throw. The sophomore thrower also was an easy winner in the shot put at 40\'1\" to help Park View (73 pts) win the team title by 10 points over Colonial Forge (63 pts). Handley\'s Ayla Smith was honored as athlete of the meet along with Washington after winning three events in the triple jump (33\'6.75\"), 100 meter hurdles (15.3), and 300 meter hurdles (45.2). She also ran ancor leg for the third place 4x800 meter relay team and broke a new meet record in the 300 meter hurdles. More to come from Apple Blossom...
