USATF Region III: Aghaji puts up 40-11.75 in triple jump MileSplit Staff Jul 16, 2007

At the USATF Region III Championships in Richmond, Matoaca's Mia Agahji put up the state's best mark of the year in the triple jump as she surpassed previous leader in AAA state champion and Nike Outdoor Nationals runner-up Rachel Butler of Lee-Davis (40'10.50") with a winning mark of 40'11.75" in the young women's division. Held at Sports Backers Stadium, Aghaji has made great improvements in the event at this venue since state competition as her previous best of 39'6" was from a victory at the MileStat.com Elite Track Gala. The Central Region girls had a strong representation in the meet with four other USATF regional champions joining Aghaji in J.R. Tucker's Jasia Richardson (intermediate girls triple jump, 39'8"), Deep Run's Briana Hudson (intermediate girls high jump, 5'3"), Atlee's Emma Dejarnette (intermediate girls pole vault, 10'11"), and Prince George's Corinna Brown (young women high jump, 5'3").
