RICHMOND, VA --
There is no doubt that the Colonial District is the toughest district in the Central Region.
With most of the top individuals and teams in the region found in the district, it is a dogfight
just to get out of the district meet. But two squads, the Maggie Walker boys and Douglas Freeman
girls, were able to rise atop of the competition.

The Maggie Walker boys, coming off of their best performance of the year, where they beat
formerly nationally ranked Good Counsel of Maryland en route to winning the prestigous Georgetown
Prep Classic, continued that streak of good fortune by winning the Colonial District boys' team
title. Maggie Walker senior John Piersol led the way as he won the race in 16:19 and breaking
the Deep Run Park course record in the process. Four other fellow teammates earned all-district honors with
Daniel Howard (5th, 16:58), Andrew Stegmaier (7th, 17:02), Jarrett Ridgeway (9th, 17:18), and
Jonathan Charlesworth (12th, 17:34) to give the squad a total score of 34.

The Hermitage boys finished a respectable 2nd with 54 points. The squad was led by a strong
top three which consisted of Chad Hall (4th, 16:55), Cary Chafee (6th, 17:00), and Matt Kirkland
(8th, 17:03). Advancing to the Central Region Meet next week at Pole Green Park along with Maggie
Walker and Hermitage is Douglas Freeman (63 pts) and Mills Godwin (77 pts).

Julia Siegel (20:39) and Tyler Wallce's (20:41) 1-2 finish in the girls' race, helped lead
the Douglas Freeman girls to a district title with 36 points. Joining the Lady Rebels in the
Central Region Meet is Mills Godwin (53 pts), Maggie Walker (54 pts), and Hermitage (110 pts).
