Maidens 15:27 at Region D, Lebanon & Virginia High teams claim titles Nov 01, 2007

Lebanon's Maidens hit the roads at the Region D Meet and rolled with 15:27 win. Lebanon's move out to Region D from Region C was felt by the rest of the region in Wednesday's regional championships at Oxbow Lake in St. Paul, Virginia. Lebanon had both individual champions as well as taking top honors for the boys' team title. Few coaches and athletes in the region have seen a runner blaze through the three mile course at Oxbow Lake like Lebanon senior Jakob Maidens did in his 15:27 effort. The top ranked runner in Group A looked very strong in his final race before his Great Meadow battle with defending champion Nathan Brame of Radford. His teammates ran well also as teammate Chris Dye was the next finisher as regional runner-up at 16:17 as Lebanon tallied 40 points to win the Region D title in their first year in the region over Virginia High. Virginia High had four All-Region performers with Brian Brillhart (3rd, 16:30), Jack Quesenberry (5th, 16:57), Adam Hobbs (6th, 16:58), and Kevin Derr (11th, 17:24)  for a team score of 53 points.  Virginia High School girls, led by the Hilliard sisters, Megan (2nd, 20:00) and Madison (6th, 20:58), won the Region D team title with 40 points.  Virginia High had strong team showings in both races as while their boys fell just short of a regional title, the Virginia High girls finished 13 points better than runner-up John S. Battle with 40 points. Lebanon's Hannah Yates clocked in at 19:46 for the individual title, while second place finisher Megan Hilliard at 20:00 led Virginia High with sister Madison Hilliard (6th, 20:58) and Lauryn Denton (15th, 21:29) also finishing in the top 15.  Region D Meet Top 15 Results - Complete results can be emailed to milestat@gmail.com or faxed to 804-744-2409.
