ENTRY RULES Participation in the Region Cross Country Championships is open to all 2A Region A Schools.

ENTRY ALL ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED ON-LINE THROUGH MILESTAT.COM

DEADLINE: NO LATER THAN 12:00 MIDNIGHT ON WEDNESDAY, OCT. 24, 2018. YOU MAY ENTER AS MANY ATHLETES FROM YOUR TEAM ROSTER AS YOU LIKE, BUT ONLY 7 RUNNERS FROM EACH SCHOOL MAY COMPETE IN THE VARSITY CHAMPIONSHIP RACES. ALL OTHERS MAY COMPETE IN THE JOINT 5B-2A SUB-VARSITY RACES. PLEASE FOLLOW ALL ON-LINE ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY AND MAKE SURE TO ENTER ALL FROM YOUR TEAM WHO MAY COMPETE.

RULES: Cross Country section of the 2018 National Alliance Edition of Track & Field Rules.

COURSE: The Pole Green Park National 5000 Meter (3.1 miles) Course was established in 2008 for the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross-Country Championships The starting area is wide enough to accommodate large numbers of runners with the first turn more than 600 meters away. It is spectator friendly with wide open running lanes of mostly grass and wooded trails.\ Flats or short spikes are recommended.

COURSE A map of the course is attached. The course is permanently marked and easy to follow.

TOURS: Teams and individuals are encouraged to tour the course before the day of the meet.

NOTE: THE COURSE WILL BE OPEN FOR TOURING AT 10:00 AM ON RACE DAY AND

CLOSED AT 1:00 PM AND NO FURTHER TOURING WILL BE ALLOWED BEYOND 1:00 PM.

BIB NUMBERS Bib numbers with tear-off tags and pins will be provided for all runners and must be worn unaltered on the front of the racing singlet.

AWARDS Championship Trophies to the Boys & Girls 1st and 2nd place teams. Medals to the top 15

Finishers in the Boys & Girls Varsity Championship Races

STATE The top three (3) teams and the first five (5) individuals not on one of those three teams in the

QUALIFYING Championship Races will qualify for the State 2A Championships scheduled for Great Meadows on Friday, November 9, 2018. State Meet information will be included in the team packets.

CONCESSIONS: The Lee-Davis Booster Club will have drinks and food for sale.

REGIONAL Multi-colored professionally printed REGIONAL CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP T-Shirts

CROSS- will be on sale on meet day. PLEASE INFORM YOUR RUNNERS AND PARENTS

TEAM TENTS: There will be a designated area for team camps & tents. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR AREA CLEAN. A TRASH BAG WILL BE PROVIDED FOR EACH SCHOOL PLEASE TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH

YOU. THERE IS NO TRASH PICKUP AT POLE GREEN PARK

*The sub-varsity races will be joint races with 5A Region B and 2A Region A athletes. There will be no team scores or awards, just an opportunity for your alternates and others not competing in the varsity championship races to get a time.

AWARDS PRESENTATIONS FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP RACES WILL BE HELD FOLLOWING THE BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP RACE IN EACH DIVISION

DIRECTIONS: Pole Green Park is located on Pole Green Road about 3 miles from the intersection of

Pole Green Rd, and I-295. Upon entering the Park, stay on the main road past Pole Green Elementary

School to the rear of the Park The course is just past the skate park and softball fields.

From I-295:

Take Exit 38 A to Pole Green Road exit (Route 627). Continue East on Pole Green Road for 3.5 miles. Turn left onto Pole Green Park Lane. Continue on Pole Green Park Lane for about mile to park entrance.

From I-95 South:

Follow I-95 North to I-64 East (Exit 75) toward Norfolk/RIC Airport. Continue on I-64 East for 1.4 miles until you reach US 360 East (Exit 192). Follow 360 East (Mechanicsville Turnpike) for 8.4 miles. Turn left onto Walnut Grove Road. Follow Walnut Grove for 0.8 miles. Turn left onto Pole Green Road. Follow Pole Green Road for 0.4 miles. Turn right onto Pole Green Park Lane. Follow Pole Green Park Lane for 1/2 mile to park entrance

From I-95 North:

Follow I-95 South to I-295 South (Exit 84A) on the left toward Rocky Mount, NC. Follow I-295 South for 5.5 miles until you reach Exit 38A (continue with directions listed

above "from I-295").

From Hampton Roads/Williamsburg Area (I-64 West):

Follow I-64 West to I-295 North (Exit 200) toward Washington. Follow I-295 North for 10.3 miles until you reach Exit 38A (continue with directions listed above "from I-295").

From Charlottesville Area (I-64 East):

Follow I-64 East to I-295 South (Exit 177) toward Washington/Norfolk. Follow I-295 South for 14.7 miles until you reach Exit 38A (continue with directions listed above "from I-295")..

THERE IS A RACE FOR ALL OF THE RUNNERS ON YOUR TEAM AT THE REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. ALL TEAM MEMBERS NOT QUALIFIED FOR THE VARSITY RACE MAY COMPETE IN THE APPROPRIATE SUB-VARSITY RACE. THEREFORE, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WAIT TO SUBMIT YOUR ENTRIES. SIMPLY ENTER ALL OF THE RUNNERS ON YOUR ROSTER. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DECLARE WHICH RACE THEY WILL RUN IN UNTIL MEET DAY.
