Grayson Forest Run Invitational
October 2 , 2019
As most of you know, we have changed Grayson River Run to Grayson Forest Run. The meet will now be located at Matthews State Forest on highway 58 between Independence and Galax.
Registration- We can only handle about 8-10 teams. Please email me at lucas.austin@gcpsva.org if your team is interested.
Entry Fee- Flat rate of $25 per school whether you have 1 or 101. . We are trying to grow our race!
Course- The course consist of mixture of grass and gravel road. The course has two creek crossings and a couple of swampy areas. The first mile is downhill, middle mile is flat and the last mile is slight incline. This is our first year at Matthews so I cant predict how fast it will be. I feel that the combination of surfaces and creek crossings will make for slower times. we have the course roughed in at this time but in case of heavy rain, there may be course modifications.
Timing-This is a low key meet. We will be timing and getting the results manually.
Awards-We will have awards for the top 5 boys and girls in varsity and middle school .

Entries- Register online
Bus parking: buses will need to drive past the houses to the upper lot. The starting line is about mile walk.
Restrooms: There is a womens and mens restroom building located near the picnic shelter
Facilities: The park is open to the public. There are several new and old structures on the property. All buildings and apple trees are off limits. There is also a couple of ponds. please do not allow athletes to play around ponds.
Spectators- Spectator parking will be available near the buses and in the lower lots. The course is spectator friendly with a short walk.
Finish Line- Located near the picnic shelter.
Starting line- located about mile from the finishline up near the cemetary.
Schedule-
4:30 - Middle school boys and girls (1.5ish)
5:00- Varsity Girls 5k
5:45- Varsity Boys 5k
