Abingdon High School is honored to host the 3A Region

D Championships at Sugar Hollow Park. The Sugar Hollow Park course is over 40

years old, is one of the oldest courses in Virginia, and is very spectator

friendly.



Schedule:


Course

Opens: 12pm

Coaches' Meeting: 1:30pm


Women's Race: 2:00pm


Men's Race: 2:45pm


Combined Alternate Race: 3:30pm, no numbers or

official times will be provided

Scoring and

Uniforms:


We will follow the NFHS Rules Book for Scoring and

Uniforms. See the NFHS T&F/XC rules book if necessary.


Entry

deadline: November 3, 2019 Please submit all entries through milestat.com


Awards: Trophies will be awarded to the top female

team and the top male team. Certificates will be awarded to 1st-15th place

finishers.


Course Information: The course will be on a beautiful

grass surface with multiple inclines.


Course distance is 3.0 miles with mile markers

painted on the surface. Spikes are permissible


State Meet:


The top 3 teams and the top 5 individuals not on the

3 teams will advance to the State meet. Trophies will be awarded to the top two

female teams and the top two male teams. Certificates will be awarded to the

first 15 individual finishers in each race.


VHSL State

Entry form: The paper copy will be in each packet and should be given to Coach


Allyson Newton before leaving the course. Each coach will also

need to register every qualifying runner online at milestat.com. The paper

copies will be sent to the state director as a means of checking online

entries.


Results: Results will be posted at the meet and will

be sent to milestat.com


There will

be no charge for 
admission


Concessions

and t-shirts will be available to purchase.


Timing: Trojan Timing will be timing the event using

chip technology. Please make sure each athlete is wearing the correctly

assigned chip.


Please return all chips to the registration tent for

any athlete not participating.


Every participating athletes are required to return

chips prior to leaving the finish area.


A $10 return fee will be assessed to the

participating team for every chip not returned. Returning chips is the

responsibility of the head coach of each team.


An Athletic Trainer will be located near the finish

line.


Restroom facilities are located at the bottom of the

dam near the softball fields. There are no restrooms at the top of the dam.


Team tents may be set up underneath the pine trees.

The course goes through the pine trees, so please make sure tents are not set

up on the course.


Parking will be at the top of the dam near the Park

Headquarters. Signs and people directing traffic will be provided.


Directions:


From Interstate 1-81 South:


Take Exit 7 and turn right at the traffic light at the

bottom of the ramp.


Turn right at the next traffic light at the top of the

hill onto Lee Highway.


Follow for approximately 1 mile. Sugar Hollow Park

will be on your left.


The course starting area will be at the top of the

Dam to the left towards the pine trees.
