The race is open to high school varsity and junior varsity runners only.  (8th grade may run with junior varsity)

First and foremost, meet management wants to remind everyone that this race is being held under very special circumstances and we, as a community, are responsible for a successful event.  Please follow guidelines and remember, above all else:

This race is for the kids!!!

Cumberland Bowl Park and Lee High School will strictly enforce the 250 person limit for this event.  If you are a coach, please impress upon your athletes and parents that this race is being run under VERY special circumstances and we simply cannot have many spectators.  For this reason, we ask that each athlete only bring their parents for spectating.  Please do not bring your family of 8.  As meet director, I cannot stress enough the importance of keeping our numbers within the state guidelines.

We will be following the State of Virginia athletic outdoor event protocol.  To ensure the safety of our athletes, coaches, race staff/volunteers, and spectators face coverings will be required at all times.  Athletes can remove masks during warm up, racing, and cool down.

  • Coaches will screen their athletes before leaving for the competition
  • Physical distancing for all athletes, coaches, and spectators on and off the course.
  • At packet pickup, all athletes and coaches are required to fill out a team screening questionnaire.
  • If more than 4 schools register for a race, adjustments will be made, and coaches will be notified, in order to stay within the State protocol.

FACE COVERINGS WILL BE WORN AT ALL TIMES for NON ATHLETES

PLEASE DO NOT RISK THE HEALTH OF OUR ATHLETES

IF YOU ARE SICK OR HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO COVID-19

PLEASE STAY HOME!!

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO FOLLOW THE SOCIAL DISTANCING AND FACE COVERINGS GUIDELINES

PLEASE STAY HOME!!

ARRIVAL TIMES AND PROCEDURES

As set by the State of Virginia, Cumberland Bowl Park is limited to 250 people per gathering.  In order to meet social distancing requirements, the meet will run on schedule and races will not start before the posted time.

For those not familiar with Cumberland Bowl Park, the 5K course is located all around the facility.  Once you enter the Park, parking is located along the road of the facility.  Be alert to runners as you enter the Park as there are a few places where athletes cross the road during competition.  All people in each car will be counted and measures will be used to adhere to social distancing.  Each athlete is limited to 2 or 3 accompanying spectators.

At the time of registration closing we have around 100 athletes so we will adjust the schedule and will not be using the colored wristbands.

(Each person in the car will be given a colored wrist band.  The color of the wrist band corresponds with each race entered throughout the day.  This will allow volunteers to visually determine who should and should not be in the park at any particular time.  Athletes are required to leave the park within 30 minutes of the completion of their race.)

REGISTRATION

Registration for this event will be done online through va.milesplit.com entry system.

In order to have the best racing and competition experience possible under the Covid-19 protocol restrictions, we ask that coaches sign up for races in the order listed as they fill up.  Example:  sign up for the Blue race until we have 4 teams then the Red race etc.  We will only have a third race if there are more than 8 teams.  We will expand the registration as needed to allow all teams that want to compete a chance to enter.
