Southside XC Invitational

You and your team are invited to participate in this years Southside XC Invitational, formerly known as The Greater Danville Jamboree, Wednesday, August 24th at Anglers Park in Danville, VA. Anglers Park has been home of the Region 1B Cross Country Championships, Greater Danville Metro Cross Country Championships, and Galileo home meets in the past. The course is mostly flat on a variety of terrains including grass, a gravel road, a wooded trail, and two asphalt cross-overs measuring about 100 yards each. Spikes are recommended. This meet is a VHSL sanctioned contest will count towards your 10 regular season contest limit.

Schedule of Events:
Course will open at 4:00 p.m Coaches Meeting Only if necessary
Middle School 3K - 5:15 p.m. (If there is enough interest - boys and girls combined)
Girls 5K 5:45 p.m. (unlimited entries)
Boys 5k 6:30 p.m. (unlimited entries)

Entry Deadline
s: Entries are due through Milestat by 11:59 pm August 22nd, 2022.

This meet is only open to public schools whom are members of the Dogwood District, Piedmont District, Region 1B and/or private schools residing in Pittsylvania County.

Registration will close once 20 schools have registered

Payment: Please bring your payment of $50 per school or $10 per athlete if you are bringing fewer than 5 runners. Please note, the $50 fee covers both the boys and girls contests. Make checks payable to Galileo Magnet High School and write cross country in the memo line
Awards: The Danville Running & Fitness Club will be sponsoring the meet and awarding medals will be awarded to the top 15 individual finishers in each varsity race. A team trophy will be awarded to the winning team in each varsity race. The top 5 male and female individual finishers in the middle school race will also receive a medal.
Restrooms: Limited restrooms are available on site. There are no dressing rooms available.

Team areas
: There is a large picnic shelter available on a first come first serve basis, but please be considerate to allow space for other teams to also utilize the shelter. Team canopies are acceptable and may be established anywhere that does not interfere with the 5K course route. Please leave the park cleaner than you found it and encourage team guests to remain upon the paved areas.

Parking for buses will be behind the picnic shelter. Spectators may park in the parking lot or along the driveway. Please do not park in the grass or on the gravel road adjacent to the picnic area.

Team Packets: Team packets will be available for pick-up at the finish line upon arrival. A hard copy of the course map will be provided in the team packet. Please use the trash bag included in the team packet to collect all trash from your team area.

Directions: Follow US-29/HWY-265 (Danville Expressway) and exit via the Dan Daniel Park ramp. From this point, follow the brown Public Boat Landing Anglers Park Signs which will lead you in the opposite direction of the Dan Daniel Park entrance onto Riverpark Drive. Once on Riverpark Drive turn right onto Stinson Drive and then turn left onto Northside Drive. Anglers Park is located at the end of this road.
