VIS State XC Meet 2003

Much like how eventual Foot Locker All-American Cara Kiernan broke out onto the scene at last year's Independent School State Meet, Cape Henry Collegiate senior Suzanne Ginnow took the field by surprise by winning the girls' individual title in a time of 20:02.36 over the likes of proven runners, Elizabeth Harrison, Ginna Ellis, and Katie Doswell. Meanwhile, Episcopal's Ryan Woodlee, a transfer from Gonzaga (D.C. prep school), broke 17 on the challenging Woodberry Forest 5K course to win in a time of 16:56.62.

With the graduation of Fork Union\'s Kippy Keino, a big gap is left as who will be the next star among the private school ranks as Keino provided plenty of press and accolades for the less covered classification of high school running in the state. A handful of runners come into this upcoming cross country season with the potential to emerge as the best.
