The official middle school state championship meet for Virginia. This meet continues the success of the six years we have had with XC States featuring over 100 teams and thousands of athletes. The outdoor state championships are slated to be contested Saturday, May 24th in Richmond.

Who Can Compete: All athletes who are 8th grade and under are eligible to compete. Athletes can compete as part of a school team, club team, or unattached.

Awards: The top six finishers in all events will be named to the All-State team. They will receive a medal as well. At the conclusion of the meet, team trophies will be awarded to the top club teams and top school teams based on total points.

Scoring: This meet will use standard track & field scoring: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.

Packet Pickup: Packet pickup will be located next to the front entrance for the track facility. This station will open roughly two hours prior to the first event. You will need to hand in your team's USATF waiver and payment if you did not pay online.

USATF Waiver: You can access the USATF Waiver right here. Please print this out and sign it with the athlete or team information filled in. You can skip the bib number.

Fee Information: The fee is $10 per individual entry and $40 per relay entry. These fees are entry fees meaning they are final and due once registration closes. We do not allow refunds for scratching an event after registration closes. If one athlete is entered in three events the fee would be $30.

Checks: If your team is paying via check, they can make the check out to "VA Middle School States" and mail it to 2246 Park Ave, Richmond, VA 23220.

Hurdles: In accordance with USATF rules, both boys and girls will run the 100mH. The girls hurdles will be at 30" (lowest height) and the boys hurdles will be two clicks up at 36" (the middle height). In the 300m Hurdles the hurdles will be at 30" (lowest height) for both boys and girls.

Shot/Discus: In accordance with USATF rules, the discus weight is 1KG for both boys and girls while the shot put weight is 4KG for boys and 6LBS for girls.

Team Scoring: School teams and club teams will be scored separately, scoring the top 8 for each event. Only the top six will be all-state from the overall result but for team scoring purposes, we will be going 8 deep for schools and up to 8 deep for clubs when scoring. A school team's score or club team's score in an event does not displace the other. There will be two first places where there is a scorer from both.

Coaches Meeting: There will be a virtual coaches meeting at 7:00pm on Wednesday May 21st. The link is here: Coaches Meeting Link
