Athlete Spotlight: Deshawn Wilson May 03, 2010

Booker T. Washington senior Deshawn Wilson might be the best sprinter in the state that you have never heard of. Between missing his entire junior season due to academic ineligibility and then an injury preventing him from competing individually at the state indoor meet and challenge for the 300 state title as one of the top seeds, Wilson's opportunities to make a name for himself have been limited and few.   This past weekend, Wilson (pictured right by Ryan Kelly) had arguably one of the best sprint triples of the year in the state at the Landstown Invitational with two personal best times in the 100 (10.87) and 200 (21.62) meter dash and a 48.51 victory in the 400 meter dash. A state qualifier as a sophomore in the 300 meter dash and the lone remaining member of Booker T. Washington's 3:18 4x400 meter relay from the 2008 Penn Relays, Wilson has been determined to make up for the lost time as a junior this year in both the classroom as well as on the track.
