Norfolk Academy JV Championships 2010

Norfolk, VA

Meet Information

While the spectators may have disagreed the athletes could not have asked for better conditions than they had for Wednesday's JV Championship at Norfolk Academy between athletes grades 6-10. It was just under 60 degrees, a very slight breeze, and a little bit of mist. The course had dried during the week and had firm footing and the kids took advantage with some big PRs.

In the boys race Veritas Classical Christian school from Richmond dominated the meet taking the first 4 places and rounding out their scoring with 7th place. They were lead by 7th grader Miles Clikeman who ran an extremely impressive 16:53.

In the girls race it was a close battle between Veritas(of Richmond) and Walsingham. Walsingham's Christine McBeath took the lead off the starting line and was never challenged. She ran a very impressive 19:32 and was almost a full minute ahead of the next girl. Veritas countered with Caroline Coggins and Morgan Lewis running shoulder to shoulder the whole way for 2nd and 3rd place. Walsingham's 6th graders, Jessica Link and Isabella Simmons, crossed the line together for 5th and 6th place but Veritas put the rest of their top 7 in front of the the next Walsingham girl to pull away for the win.
