DOBSON, DOMER NAMED TO 2010 USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

RADFORD, Va. –
Radford's Sean Domer and Matt Dobson were named to the 2010 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team on Thursday.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.

A record total of 357 student-athletes representing 118 institutions composed the group.

"Sean and Matt are both examples of the quality of our student-athletes here at Radford.  Both men work as hard in the classroom as they do on the field," said head coach Brent Chumbley.

Domer set a new school record in the javelin with a distance of 63.53m (208'5”) at the Georgia Tech Invitational on May 15th, prior to competing in the NCAA East Regional.  He competed in nine total meets, never placing below seventh.

Dobson competed in the discus, shot put and hammer throw during the indoor and outdoor seasons.  His discus toss of 46.95m (154'0”) at the Big South Championships was the top distance on the season for Radford and a mark of 15.49m (50'10”) gave Dobson a third-place finish and spot on the podium at the Big South Indoor Championships.
