RUTV: WOMEN HAVE CONSISTENT RUN AT BSC CHAMPIONSHIPS

WOMEN'S RESULTS

BLACKBURG, Va. – The Radford women's cross country team recorded a solid showing at the 2010 Big South Cross Country Championships presented by UCS and Musco Lighting Saturday morning.

The Highlanders averaged 20:59.50 as a team and had four runners finish within nine places of each other. For the fourth time in the last five years, Liberty took home the team title.

“The women had a tough year because of injury and they all went out and ran great today,” said head coach Sean Bossman. “That's all I could ask for and I was very pleased.”

Radford has battled injury all season and came out to run a very solid race. For the second consecutive meet, freshman Jessica Arneson led the Highlanders and took home 47th place with a time of 20:08.41. She also led Radford at the Big South Preview in September and bested that mark today by 11 seconds.

Sophomore Hannah Scheren followed Arneson with a time of 20:17.29. She was also named to the Big South All-Academic Team.

Freshman Ashley Lounsbury was the third Highlander to cross the finish line and tallied a personal best time of 20:30.40. Senior Britney Whittaker, who ran her first cross country race of 2010, finished the 5K in 20:42.84.
