SCHEREN LEADS CROSS COUNTRY AT PAUL SHORT INVITATIONAL

RESULTS

BETHLEHEM, Pa. –
Sophomore Hannah Scheren led the Radford women's cross country team with a high-quality finish in the 37th annual Brooks-Paul Short Run Friday on the Goodman Campus Course.

The Paul Short Invitational is one of the largest cross country meets in the nation. More than 5,000 runners were scheduled at this year's event and 230 colleges and high schools participated in the all-day meet.

Scheren clocked in a time of 24:00, good for a 145th place showing out of 387 total runners, to finish first among Radford competitors.

“Hannah (Scheren) only ran the past two days in practice coming off a slight injury. The meet marked her first-ever 6K and she was outstanding for us today," said first-year head coach Sean Bossman.

Fresh off leading the Radford women at the Big South Preview, freshman Jessica Arneson finished on the heels of Scheren, as she ran the 6K in 24:22.

“Overall as a group, everybody had good races. We're not used to running in a big-meet environment with so many athletes, but it was a great showing for us and was a great experience for such a young team.”

“With four weeks remaining until conference, I feel like we're moving in the right direction.”

The Highlanders will participate in the Blue Ridge Open in Boone, N.C. on Friday, October 15 beginning at 3 p.m.
