Southern Track Classic Preview: Records To Fall?

Sprint Races

With warm weather and the fast SportsBackers' track it is going to be a fast one this Friday night. Headlining the sprint crews has to be Grassfield's Lauryn Ghee who is entered in both the 100 and 200. She is by far the favorite to win both of those events and she is certainly hoping to throw down some impressive marks and move up that all-time list.

On the boys' side of things Naukym Morton returns with hopes of defending his title but he is going to have to work. In the 100 he is joined Rustburg senior Isiah Garland and Blacksburg sophomore Cole Beck. Allen Blair of Tabb is also very much in contention in both short sprints.

That is of course the great part of the STC, it is finals only and you know every single athlete is going to bring the heat.

In the one lap races Malika Pride (North Stafford) and Azavier Kirtley (William Fleming) enter the competition as favorites over 400m.

Performance of the week potential: Lauryn Ghee over 200m and moving up the all-time list

Dark horse: Allen Blair in both the 100 and 200
