Southern Track Classic Preview: Records To Fall?

Vaults & Throws

Though at most meets these events are in their own little world, that should not be the case at STC. These events are stacked and this is truly the only meet that really draws the best from all around the state. That is especially the case in the throws.

In the discus Connor Scott (Lee-Davis) has gone 178-01 but he is going to have to throw at least that far with Duncan, Albert, and Patti all over 150' making for it to be a very close competition.

The girls discus will also be exciting with Alexus Clark (James Monroe) as the favorite as only a sophomore! She is also the favorite in the shot and if you get a chance you should really go over and watch her throw because this girl is the real deal. She is already on the all-time list and only moving further up it... as a sophomore.

Grassfield's Taylor Gorum is the second seed in both shot and disc and will make Clark work for it, that is a guarantee.

Finally in the vaults it could be a run-a-way on the runway with Gracie Jauch and Mark Miller in the competition. They already let the state in their respective rankings. Jauch leads by a very small margin as White, Harrison, and Lipinski are all close as well. This competition will take a 12' performance to win.

In the boys' competition just prepare yourself for a jump off because thats the likely outcome. Our prediction is three guys go up to 15 and based on misses we are going to either see a guy clear 15-3 or a whole lot of guys in a jump off. Miller cleared that height last weekend.
