Phillip may not have had one of the best XC or indoor seasons but by outdoor season it was very apparent that he was the real deal. Over the past few months the Stafford star tallied up an undefeated record in the 3200 and even took home the 5A state title in 9:11.
Despite outdoor track and XC being totally different sports, they are both very telling of one another. Phillip's late surge in the year shows everyone that his training is working and that a big improvement in XC should follow. Just by following the same conservative trajectory as the previous year he would improve 15-25 seconds this year in XC. That would improve his pr of 15:48 (run at states) to a solid sub 15:20 performance.
Phillip is not only going to by vying for a state title individually but also national honors either at Foot Locker or NXR this season. For those reasons he is our preseason #7 star.
