Keith Bechtol Named CAA Runner of the Week

Sophomore Led Team at Pre-Nationals

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - William and Mary men's cross country distance ace Keith Bechtol (Alexandria, VA) has been named the CAA Runner of the Week, the conference office announced today. Bechtol earned the honor thanks to his team-leading performance at the highly competitive NCAA Pre-Nationals where, in the 8,000m Blue Race, the sophomore faced a field filled with 12 of the top-30 teams in the nation. Despite such elite competition, Bechtol raced to 26th to place among some of the top runners in the country, clocking a season-best time of 24:35.2. It is the second such honor for Bechtol in as many races as he garnered the award for his 19th-place performance at the Great American Festival in early October. It is the fourth time a College harrier has received Runner of the Week honors as senior Jeff Hedley (Virginia Beach, VA) and sophomore Adam Tenerowicz (Blackstone, MA) have also been awarded the designation. Bechtol and the Tribe have two weeks off before aiming for their fifth-straight CAA Championship in New Market, VA on October 30th.
