2018 VHSL CLASS 6 REGION A
OUTDOOR T & F CHAMPIONSHIPS
LANDSTOWN HIGH SCHOOL

Admissions: Tickets will be sold on both days. General
Admission: $8.00 Children(under 6): Free
**Only student-athletes in a school issued uniform will be admitted into the meet at no charge. Coaches will be given wristbands in their packet to distribute to their assistants. All coaches must wear a wristband each day to avoid the admission charge.

Entry Requirements: A school can enter up to three athletes in an event without meeting the region standard. If
a school enters four or more athletes in an event, then all of those athletes must meet the region standard. Schools may enter one relay team per event (regardless if they met the standard).
ENTRY DEADLINE: MONDAY, MAY 21 @ 11:59PM
Rules: The current edition of the VHSL Handbook and the National Federation Track and Field Rules Book will be used. A contestant may compete in any number of field events, but shall be limited to participating in only three (3)
running events. A contestant competing in the 3200 meter run may participate in two (2) other running events as long as only one of the two is contested on the same day as the 3200 meter run. Approved track team uniforms must be worn and must be visible. The Jewelry Rule is no longer in effect.
Awards: Team trophies will be awarded at the end of the meet. Individual medals will be presented
to athletes as results are announced.
Scoring: Team points are earned by individuals who finish in the top eight places in each event. The girl's and boy's teams earning the highest number of points will be declared the Region Tournament Champion.
Individual/Relay: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1
CLASS 6 STATE MEET: Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2 at Todd Stadium in Newport News, VA.
State Entry deadline: May 29 @ 12:00pm.
Who Advances: Top four (4) finishers in each event (including relays) at the regional meet plus anyone who meets the state qualifying standard in the regional meet, or in a sanctioned meet involving ten (10) or more teams (5 or more if a fully automated timing system was used). See VHSL Handbook Section 84 for additional qualifying criteria.
SPORTSMANSHIP
The ideals of sportsmanship apply equally to all involved with the meet. Individuals, regardless of their role in activities, are expected to be aware of their influence on the behavior of others and model good sportsmanship.
