Entries will be done online through Milestat. Following the closing of entries on May 21, each school will receive an e-mail of their entries. Final scratches will be taken at the coaches meeting. Only scratches can be made at that time.
Individual Entries:
Any student placing top 6 in their district meet (among Class 3 schools) or any student having met the regional standard in a meet with 4 or more teams qualifies for the RegionalChampionship meet.
Relay Teams:
Any relay team placing top 3 in their district meet (among Class 3 schools) or having met the regional standard in a meet with 4 or more teams qualifies for the Regional Championship meet. Please make sure that any athlete you may want to use on a relay is entered in the relay on Milestat or is entered in an individual event. It helps to have all possible participants in the computer ahead of time.
Verification of Entry Performances:
All performances should be verified using MileStat. Any performance that is not verified on MileStat will require a VHSL verification form including the athletes name, performance, name of the meet, date of the meet and a signature from the meet director. This form needs to be e-mailed to Matthew Pearman mpearman@k12albemarle.org) prior to the entry deadline.
All times submitted must be F.A.T. To convert a hand time round the tenths place up if the hundredths place is greater than 0 and then add 0.24 to that rounded time. All heats, flights and sections will be determined using MileStat entries. We will follow all applicable NFHS and VHSL rules and regulations along with the Class 3, Region C region handbook.
Awards:
- Team trophies will be awarded to the top two (2) teams (boys and girls).
- Ribbons/medals will be awarded to the top six (6) individuals per event and the participants on the top two (2) relay teams per event (boys and girls).
- Performer of the Year will be chosen from among the individual event champions.
- Coach of the Year will be the coach of the region championship teams.
- ll individual event winners will be considered First Team All-Region. Each schoolshould have these certificates as shared with region ADs at the start of the school year.
- Participants finishing in the top 6 (individual events) and top 2 teams (relays) can pick up their awards from their coaches following the meet. A packet with individual awards will be prepared for each school.
Parking: Monticello High School does not let out until 3:50pm. Buses shall drop students off atour stadium entrance and will be directed by Monticello Athletics Staff to a reserved busparking section of our lot to park.
Admission: $6.00 - VHSL Approved Passes only
Spectators: Spectators can watch the meet from either the home or visitor bleachers. No spectators will be allowed on the infield. Areas will be flagged off to watch the Shot Put and Discus. Please stay behind the flag barriers for the safety of both the student-athletes and other spectators.
Tents: Team will be allowed on the grassy areas on the ends of the track as well as the grassy area near the shotput circle. Approved tent areas will be marked with paint and are available on a first come, first served basis. Any tents in the bleachers should not be in front of the press box and are limited to the top 5 rows of the bleachers to allow for viewing for spectators.
Scoring: 10-8- 6-4- 2-1 for both individual and relay events.
Starting Heights: The starting height for the pole vault and high jump will be determined using the qualifying standards and the field of entered students. The starting heights will be e-mailed to the participating schools after entries have closed.
Warm-ups: Warm-ups for running events should be completed on the trails and fields surrounding the stadium and school building. Hurdlers will be allowed to warm-up in the outer lanes during the 4x800m relay. The amount of time allotted for warm-ups for the field events will be determined by the coaches running the event and is dependent number of students competing in each event.
Spikes:1/4 inch (or smaller) pyramid spikes are to be used on the track and all runways.
Athletic Trainer: Shannon Snell, Head Athletic Trainer for Monticello High School, will be on site to provide assistance. She will be located on the inside of the track between the 50-yard line and the finish line.
Water Stations: There will be two water stations, one on the inside of the track and one on the outside of the track, located near the 50-yard line.
Bullpen: The bullpen will be located at the entrance gate to the track near the 100m start line. All participants except for pole vault will enter the track at this gate. Pole vault participants will enter the track by the gate nearest the pole vault pit. Only participants competing in the pole vault or long/triple jump should be on the infield. Participants can check in with the starter to get their hip numbers at any time. We ask that participants are in the bullpen by 2nd call so that they can move to the starting line after the 3 rd call. Check in for field events will be at the field event. Coaches are allowed on the infield. All participants should exit the track at the gate nearest the finish line. Athletes jumping the fence risk disqualification from the meet. No electronic devices should be used in the infield areas.
Relay cards: Please turn in relay cards to the starter when checking in. Please be sure to include school, gender, event and relay team members.
Timing: FAT timing by Blue Ridge Timing will be used. Results will be available online, 2018 Results, posted throughout the meet on the press box windows at the top of the home bleachers. Results will be also be posted on MileStat and emailed to the Athletic Directors at the conclusion of the meet.
Declaration Rule: Scratching a participant from an event does not affect any remaining events that the student may be entered in. However, once a participant is declared in the maximum number of track events, coaches may not scratch them from an individual event and then enter them into a relay.
Protests: Lawrence Minor is our referee for the meet. Please submit any protests directly to him.
Jury of Appeals: The members of the Jury of Appeals will meet to render a decision on any protests. (Steve Ivory Monticello/Jefferson, Sue Rinker Spotswood/Valley, Bryant Vennable Heritage/Seminole, Larry Minor Meet Referee) Should the Jury of Appeals be split 2-2, the Meet Director will make the final decision. All decisions will be final.
Concessions: Concessions will be available throughout the meet near the entrance gate. Pizza, Hot Dogs, Bojangles Chicken Sandwiches, and an assortment of snacks, candy and cold Pepsi-brand beverages will be sold.
Hospitality: Drinks and limited Hospitality food offerings will be available in the press box. This is for coaches and meet officials only. Students should not enter the press box at any time.
Champions/Unified: We will host Champions Track Events. All Champions/Unified track participants from Jefferson District and Class 3, Region C schools are welcome to attend. Please refer to the Meet Schedule for the Champions events.

Region standards were calculated by averaging the 6 th place finish of the past three region meets. Schools no
longer in Class 3, Region C were removed from the results.
Class 3, Region C Field Event Assignments
