Fifth and sixth place respectively in the 2012 Group A State Outdoor Championships in the shot put and discus, Alexis Brown (pictured by Andrew Kicinski) of James River (Buchanan) appears ready to make that jump or throw in this case this spring to compete for a state title. Brown posted two PR's this weekend at the Mike Brown Invite with winning marks of 38'6.25" in the shot put and 111'5" in the discus throw.

Group AA indoor and outdoor state champion high jumper Chris Smith (pictured by Andrew Kicinski) of Sherando was featured in the first annual Mike Brown Invitational. With a personal best of 6'6" in the event, only a height of 6'2" was required for first place on Saturday at County Rockbridge High School.
