The 7 foot high jumper Steven Dunbar of Tallwood popped a new personal best mark of 47'5" in the triple jump on day one of competition at Duke University for the Russell E. Blunt East Coast Invitational on Friday. Western Branch's Corey Jones was a winner in the men's 400 meter hurdles in only his second attempt at the event with a time of 55.29. His teammate Byron Robinson had an impressive weekend in the sprints running two new personal bests in the 100 meter dash (10.69) and 400 meter dash (47.29) along with a swift time in the 200 meter dash as well (21.51). Russell Blunt is one of the last tune-up meets before the USATF Junior Olympic National Championship meet, which will also be held in the state of North Carolina.
