JMU Men\'s Cross Country and Track Program axed thanks to Title IX

The James Madison University men\'s cross country and track program was announced today to be eliminated effective of July 1st, 2007 thanks to Title IX as the school was forced to comply with NCAA regulations to match athletics particpation rates by gender in relation to the school\'s enrollment. Currently, females make up 50.7% of the athletes at JMU and 61% of the student population, while males make up 49.3% of JMU athletes and only 39% of the student population.
