Oakton girls and Killough win big at Hagan Stone

GREENSBORO, NC -- The Oakton girls and J.J. Kelly senior Brittany Killough were big winners at the Hagan Stone Park Classic held in Greensboro, North Carolina. Oakton coach Scott Raczko\'s girls from Vienna had five runners in top 12 places and all under 20 minutes on the Hagan Stone Park 5K course to finish 22 points ahead of Green Hope High School (NC) with a team score of 43 points. For Killough, it was her second consecutive win at Hagan Stone as she bettered her 2005 time by two seconds with a 18:25.90 clocking.

An amazing time spread of only 11 seconds separated Oakton\'s top five runners with junior Nora Meehan (7th, 19:40.7), senior Meredith Tighe (8th, 19:42.7), junior Hallie Eilerts (10th, 19:49.2), sophomore Becca Kassabian (11th, 19:51.1), and sophomore Jenna Cahill (12th, 19:51.7). Their team is currently ranked #8 in AAA and their team performance in Greensboro certainly shows they are capable of making a state meet podium run this year after finishing second in the AAA state race in 2005.

J.J. Kelly senior Brittany Killough looks ready to win her first state title after her performance at Hagan Stone. Killough is competing in her first cross country season in Group A after transferring from Group AAA\'s Franklin County to J.J. Kelly last year during the track season. Killough won the 2005 Hagan Stone Park Classic in a Franklin County uniform in a time of 18:27 and not much changed in 2006 with a new team colors to sport as she won by a 33 second margin with her final time of 18:25.9.

Pulaski County girls, ranked #2 in AA currently, finished fourth at Hagan Stone as they were led by a strong third place run from junior Sabrina Hall in a time of 19:06.3.
