Six days are left to enter your team and runners into this year's MileStat.com Cross Country Invitational, which will be held on Saturday, October 19th at a new location from prior years at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Virginia. As of October 8th, a total of 66 schools and 1,586 runners are entered into the meet and we expect the total number of athlete entries to potentially go over the 3Ks when all teams have entered their meet rosters. Yet we still have room for more teams! So don't delay and register today before the Monday night (10/14) online entry deadline at midnight.
This meet will be a great last big meet opportunity for varsity and JV runners to compete against top competition before the start of championship season with the majority of conference championship meets starting up around a week and a half following our meet date on October 19th. There will be two varsity division races (A race - "Elite" and B race - "Emerging Elite") as well as a total of 4 JV races (2 for each gender), which we will attempt to split the fields evenly in terms of numbers..Any middle school programs or high school teams with JV middle school runners can enter into our middle school 4K races. Entry fee is $7 per runner for the high school races and $5 per runner for the middle school races with a max entry fee of $350 for high schools and $150 for middle schools.
Meet t-shirts ($15 short-sleeves) and concessions will be sold at the meet. We are excited this year and looking forward to many years partnering with Lee-Davis High School in hosting this event as their parents, coaches, and athletes will be a big help and offer a lot of manpower and skills to be instrumental in running off a successful huge invitational on their home course. Pole Green Park is located conveniently off I-295 for teams traveling from the East, North, and West of Richmond. There will be other recreational sporting events going on the same day at Pole Green Park on their softball, soccer, football fields, but there should be plenty of parking located near the course between the gravel lots and two large grass fields which we wil be utilizing that are located in close proximity to the course. If any teams are staying overnight on Friday, please let us know and which local hotel that you are staying at as well as # of rooms that you booked. We will have a DJ playing music throughout the meet to add to the atmosphere, but this meet's atmosphere will not be created by all the extra sideshows, but based on the great fields that have we already assembled for this meet!
Ideal course conditions with the local park and rec officials doing wonders in getting the Pole Green course ready for the Atlantic 10 Championships to be hosted by University of Richmond later this month and hopefully great racing weather conditions with cooler temperatures expected to come as we get deeper into the fall season will be a great setting for loaded fields found for both boys and girls at this year's MileStat.com XC Invite. We currently have 21 girls who have ran under 19 minutes for 5K this season and 51 who have dipped uner 20 minutes, while there are 15 boys who have clocked season best times under 16 minutes this fall and 94 total who have ran sub 17 minutes for 5K in the 2013 cross country season.
In the team competition, the MileStat.com XC Invitational will have many of the top 25 ranked teams in the state as well as other teams who figure to be competing for conference and regional titles as well as state meet berths and podium finishes later in the season. Seven of the top nine ranked boys' teams in the latest Cream of the Crop Rankings (10/8) will be at the MileStat.com XC Invitational, while the top ranked girls teams in Blacksburg and Lake Braddock will face off along with 14 of the remaining 23 teams in the Cream of the Crop All-Classification top 25 team rankings who will be present on race day at Pole Green Park.
