2PM Update: Meet has been cancelled. The course conditions are poor enough where the park officials will not allow the meet to be held on Saturday at Bull Run Regional Park. There is no reschedule date, but the 2014 meet date is Saturday, October 11th.
Bring your flippers...we mean spikes to the Glory Days Grill Invitational on Saturday! Steady and heavy rains this week from the remnants of tropical storm Karen had washed out many weekday meets throughout the state and based on this picture above from course conditions on Thursday at Bull Run Regional Park, which is the site for Saturday's 3400+ runners Glory Days Invite, could affect the weekend meets and result in some changes in meet plans.
Currently, meet management is waiting to make a decision around 2 PM or early afternoon hours on Friday to make a decision to use an alternate course which would try avoid the worst parts of the course with standing water and muddy conditions as well as get the final green light from park management to host the meet on Saturday. The plan and intention is that the meet is going forward on Saturday, but may have to make course changes for the safety of the athletes. A course change would likely result in an even more spectator friendly course than it already is. We will keep you updated as soon as we hear more from meet management and try to get a new course map if alternate course ends up being used.
