MileStat.com AOW Boys Winner: Sean Holston
The Robert E. Lee sprinter made a dashing debut in his first attempt at the 500 meter dash. At last Friday\'s F.I.T. Invitational, Holston won the 500 meter dash in a US #1 time this season in 1:03.93. The time ranks him #17 US all-time, while ranks him even higher in US prep history among unbanked track performances. During the MileStat.com era, only a select few have ran faster from Virginia in the sprint event with Lake Braddock\'s Frank Francois (1:03.74, 2001), Heritage\'s Quentin Bowens (1:03.84, 2002), and South Lakes\' Richard Smith (1:03.88, 2002). Holston earlier in the meet competed in and won the 55 meter dash with a state leading time of 6.41, which was only three hundredths of a second off his fastest clocking ever at last year\'s Group AAA State Indoor Championships. |
MileStat.com AOW Girls Winner: Samella Koroma
T.C. Williams senior Samella Koroma had only thrown over 40 feet on one occassion last year in a runner-up showing at the Northern Region Outdoor Championships with a throw of 40\'2.50\". At the F.I.T. Invite, Koroma bettered her old top mark by over one foot with a winning throw of 41\'4.25\". Jones finished very close behind Koroma in second at F.I.T. with a mark only half an inch less at 41\'3.75\". There should be more competitive showdowns between the two throughout the season and finishing out at the regional and state meets. |
