McCorory sets new American & Junior Record in 300

Francena McCorory returned to the same track that she set the national high school record in the 300 meter dash at Virginia as a collegiate freshmen at Hampton University to break the American and World Junior Indoor Record in the event.

The former Bethel High star clocked a 36.96 in the 300 meter dash at last year\'s Virginia Tech Invitational to set the national high school record in the event. One year later back on the same track that she made history, McCorory did it again racing for Hampton University posting a new personal best of 36.67 to win the 300 meter dash at the Virginia Tech College Invitational.

McCorory\'s time beat the old American Junior record of 36.47 from 1992 and set by Natasha Kaiser-Brown on an oversized 300 meter indoor track. The oversized track penalty gives McCorory the record. The old World Junior record of 37.50 was set in 1983 by Diane Dixon.

Yvette Lewis, former star from Menchville High School, also posted a leading mark for Hampton University as her mark of 42\'2.50\" is currently the nation\'s best in the triple jump.
