Trenton Hughes (Kempsville) - Hughes can potential win three individual district titles as the top seed in the long jump, 55 meter dash, and 300 meter dash.
Eddie Judge (Cox) - Coming off his outstanding run at the Track Clash with the country's second fastest flat track time for 1600 meters/mile distance at 4:16, Judge will be heavily favored in both the 1600 and 1000 meter races. It will be interesting to see what kind of time he puts up in the 1000 meter run as he has rarely competed in the event.
Octavia Rinehardt (Tallwood) - All-state runner in cross country, Rinehart will look to pull off the distance double and earn victories in the 1600 and 3200 meter races as the top seed in both races.
Jen Healey (Kellam) - One of the top field event athletes in the district, Healey is roughly a foot and a half better than the competition in both the long jump (17'4") and triple jump (36'1")
Teams to look out for:
Landstown girls - Despite one of their top sprinters from last spring in Leah Brown not running for the team this season, the outdoor state co-champions Landstown still have a formidable team that has been laying relatively low so far this year and especially in regards to their relays. Marlene Welsh in the 300 meter dash at 40.24 and Cierra McGee and Kelnisha Hinnant in the 500 meter dash at 1:16.24 and 1:18.69 are their top athletes. All three will be running just one individual event on Wednesday and focus on the relays as they should post swift times in both the 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays.
While the Landstown girls are the clear favorites, it is anyone's guess as far as who is the top team coming in for the boys in the Beach District with the points expected to be spreaded out over all the events. Hughes as a potential winner of three events would immediately help Kempsville. Defending champs Landstown had several graduation from last year's indoor district title team including now member of the NCAA national University of Florida football team in Percy Harvin, but will key off defending 500 meter district champ Kevin Wilson to carry them to another district championships.
