The MileStat.com Elite Track Gala will return for its second running on Saturday, June 9th at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, Virginia. Last year's Gala was a great start to what looks to be a high caliber post-season high school meet to attract great out-of-state talent to compete against some of the best athletes that Virginia has to offer. Last year's meet featured two national champions in Mike Morrison and Katie Doswell and plenty of state champions. Athletes traveled great distances to be part of the inaugrual event with representatives from a total of 11 states and the District of Columbia. The 2007 version of the Gala will be compacted into one day and will feature only individual events. However, there will be on exception to conclude the meet in an all-star distance medley relay. Along with the all-star relay, the meet will feature two unique high school events in the rarely contested high school 5000 meter run and high school 2000 meter steeplechase.

Meet Qualifying Standards
Entry standards are based roughly on the 100th ranked individual for running events and 50th ranked individual in the state of Virginia from the 2006 outdoor season. We want to have quality in our meet, but we also want the numbers. All performances will be verified!

Tenative Meet Schedule
We will be going with a twilight meet schedule this year to attempt to beat the heat for optimal performances. We'll stick with the start times for now, but will move up or move back depending on the number entries to make sure we do not run too late into the evening. We are aiming to have a 10 pm finish with the meet.

While we decided to nix the relays from the meet due to lagging entries in the relay events in the 2006 Gala, meet management is still looking to keep the excitement of relays with the meet in adding the all-star distance medley relay. The teams will be broken down by classifications by regions for Group AAA, while Group AA, Group A, and private schools can field full relays by their classifications. If other states are willing to field all-star relays then we will consider putting together an "A" team from Virginia regardless of athlete's classification. We will run in the order of 1200-400-800-1600. This should be a fun event for athletes to finish the meet out after having competed in their individual events. There will be no entry fees associated with the event.
