Bethel senior Shakia Forbes won Virginia's first national title of the weekend on Friday at the National Scholastic Indoor Championships. Forbes, who will be competing not too far from the New York Armory next year at Seton Hall University in New Jersey, won the long jump competition with a top mark of 19'4.75". She will be pulling double duty this weekend as she will also be competing in the other indoor national championship in Landover, Maryland for Nike Indoor Nationals in the long jump as well.
