MileStat.com Athletes of the Week for the week ending in April 7th are both juniors in Blacksburg's Peter Dorrell and Park View's Natalie Baird.
Boys AOW: Blacksburg junior Peter Dorrell
Dorrell ventured down to Gainesville, Florida for his spring break to compete at the Florida Relays, which is one of the premier track meets for one of the nation's top states in high school track and field. Dorrell held his own against Florida's best as he finished second on Friday in the 1600 meter to Joseph Franklin in a personal best time of 4:15.72 as 6 runners dipped under 4:20 in a hotly contested race. Dorrell lead going into the final lap but Franklin's 1:50 800 meter speed took over to pull away in a 4:14.64 victory.
The Group AA indoor state champion for 1600 meters then came back on the following day for Saturday's 3200 meter run to face another deep field of talented Floridians. Dorrell did much of the pace work up front to make the race an honest pace as they went through 1600 meters ...
