Meet Regulations and Information

 

-No coaches or spectators will be allowed on the infield at any time !!

 

-The F.A.T. System and timing crew is off limits to all coaches.  If there is a concern, go to the press box and the proper official will be notified.

 

Note:   This meet will be conducted on a 400 Meter Track.  The RADFORD Track has 9 lanes for the straightaway and 8 lanes for all turn races.

After the 12:30 p.m. break, the events will not be on a set time schedule. Athletes will need to report to the bullpen by second call.

 

 

 

Entry Deadline:  All schools should carefully check their entries and turn one copy into the regional meet director before leaving the meet - and keep one copy for their files.   All entries must be on supplied entry sheets.

 

Important:  Confirmation of Entries - Read Carefully!! - Any known scratches in any running events must be made to your Regional Director by noon, Tuesday, May 29. Running events scratches after this time will disqualify the participant from all running events.  Only field events scratches will be permitted at the coaches meeting on Saturday, June 2.

 

Important:  General Rules of Field Events - National Federation Track and Field Rule Book - This rule will be followed at State Championships.  A contestant shall be charged with an unsuccessful attempt if the contestant does not initiate a trial that is carried to completion, or pass it within 1 minute after being called for a trial, unless excused by the event judge to participate in some other event .

 

Awards:  Presentation of team trophies, 1st, 2nd and 3rd, at conclusion of the meet. Medals may be picked up after a team is through for the day.

 

Eligible To State Meet: Entries may be only those contestants who placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th in a Regional Meet or those contestants who were properly reported by the district or regional meet director as having met the state qualifying standards in the District or Regional Championship (trials or finals) or at a sanctioned meet of 10 schools or more.  Each relay team must place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the Regional Meet or have met the qualifying standards in the District or Regional Championship Meet (trials and finals) or at a sanctioned meet of 10 schools or more.

 

Coaches Meeting: The Coaches’ Meeting is June 2 at 9:00 a.m.   Location TBA.  Announcements will be made relative to meet administration.  Packets including meet programs, competitor’s numbers and heat sheets can be obtained when coaches arrive.

 

Shot and Discus: Shots and discuses will be certified at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 2 at the shot and discus area. Shots and discuses that do not meet rules specifications will be impounded and can be picked up when the competition is over.

 

Equipment:  Each team must furnish its own towels, discuses, shots and batons.  Only starting blocks furnished by Radford can be used.  Each contestant must wear a school uniform, which shall consist of a Jersey (with number provided by VHSL), trunks and shoes. (Follow rulebook specifications).

 

Shoes - Important: Contestants can wear 1/4" or shorter spikes but flats are adequate on the Radford Track.

 

Showers:  Locker rooms and showers will not be available.  Teams must make their own arrangements for changing clothes.

 

Trainer: A certified trainer will be available throughout the meet.

 

Participant’s Limits:  A contestant may compete in any number of field events but shall be limited to participation in only 3 running events, except that a contestant who takes part in the 3200 meter run may compete in only one other running event.   If a contestant is entered in a field event which conflicts in the time schedule with a track event in which she/he is entered, the contestant shall make advance arrangements with the official in charge of the field event to postpone his/her trials until after the track events have been run.  No track event will be held up to accommodate a contestant competing in a field event.

 

Admissions:  $7.00 adults and students.  Children under 6 years old accompanied by paying adult admitted free.  Participants will need competitors’ numbers for admission.  Each school packet will contain 2 VHSL nametags to be used for admission.  Principals, trainers, athletic directors, and coaches ID cards will be honored for one admission.

 

 

Facility: The Radford outdoor track is a 400-meter track.  The 400 dash and 400 relay will be run in lanes all the way.  The 800 Meter will be run in sections on time with a one-turn stagger (same as 2006).  1600 Meter Relay – (Three turn stagger. First runner will remain in lane, the second runner will remain in lane until completion of one full turn.)
