Info for the Gala steeplechasers

For those going into the steeplechase virtually blind as to what to expect this weekend at the MileStat.com Gala, here is some helpful information on the steeplechase event such as the placement of the barriers, the barrier heights, race techniques, among other sources of information.

 The starting line of the 2000 meter steeplechase is behind the common starting and finish line on the homestretch. There are a total of five barriers on the track with one being the water jump. In the first lap, the first two barriers (identified as barrier H1 and barrier H2 above) are off are not placed on the track. The first barrier steeplers will have to hurdle over is 250 meters in at the H3 barrier. The H1 and H2 barriers are placed on the track after the steeplers have passed on the first lap and steeplers will be required to hurdle those barriers in the remaining four laps in the race.
