Former South Lakes High School star Alan Webb continued his amazing 2007 outdoor season as he marches on to the World Championships in Osaka, Japan on Friday evening in Paris in the IAAF Golden League meet hosted in France by winning a loaded 1500 meter field in 3:30.54. Webb's time is the third fastest in US history and fastest by an American born runner at the distance ranking only behind Bernard Lagat and Sydnee Maree. It was Webb's second race in Europe this summer after running another personal best the week before in the 800 meter run in 1:45.80. Webb's 1500 meter time is also the 25th fastest performer all-time in the World as he had to beat one of the World's best to do it in France's Mehdia Baala. Another former Virginian high school prep and even younger star rising to world class status in LaShawn Merritt also claimed a victory in the 400 meter dash in Paris in a 44.62 clocking.
