Anyone who saw him set the sophomore national record last year in the 55m hurdles or clear 7-1 on his first attempt in outdoor track knew Grant Holloway (Grassfield) was the real deal. Today though, we saw something we did not ever really expect to see! Grant blistered the track down at Boo Williams Sportsplex and posted a monster 6.30 US #1 55m Dash (16th VA All-Time).
Not only is this performance impressive on its own but it is only magnified by the fact that he is also the hands down US #1 in the high jump (7-0) and 55m hurdles (7.23). He has only lost one single 55m hurdle race in the past two years and was the national runner-up in the 60m hurdles as a sophomore. He also currently stands at 34.33 in the 300 which is good enough for US #4 and VA #1 and if you were wondering, it is US #1 for flat tracks too!
Grant is not done for the weekend though. He will lace up his spikes and high jump tomorrow morning in day two of the Atlantic Coast Invitational and run his first invitational 500 ever. Could we see another US #1 or another 7-0+ performance? Check out the live results and meet page here!
Next week his coaches are not holding back as he will be in the high jump, 55m hurdles, and 300m dash at the Virginia Tech Invitational. That race will be streamed LIVE on the entire MileSplit network to watch. It will feature Noah Lyles (sophomore national record holder in the 200) and Josephus Lyles (national 400m champion) who are two of the best 200 and 400m athletes in the entire nation.
