Group A #1 ranked Susanna Sullivan of George Mason (pictured right by Don Rich of penntrackxc.com) went north this past weekend to compete against some of Pennsylvania's best at the Gettysburg Invitational and came away with confidence building third place showing. The winner of the race was one of the Keystone State's top runners in Kara Millhouse, who ran 10:35 for 3200 meters this past spring. Sullivan was only 12 seconds behind a potential Foot Locker qualifier in Millhouse (18:42) with her final time of 18:54. The George Mason senior's performance at Gettysburg is her fastest 5K time ever on a cross country course as she ran 18:17 for 5K on the track at Nike Outdoor Nationals and had only broken 19 once before in cross country as a sophomore in the Group A state race. From Virginia, George Mason and Chancellor both competed as teams at the Gettysburg High School 5K course. While Sullivan competed as an individual in the Group I top division race, the Chancellor girls ran in the Group II division and finished second as a squad out of 33 teams with 158 points. Leah Schubel was the team's top finisher in 16th place with a time of 20:58.
