Information on Knights Crossing this Saturday! Please Read!

Entries:
Thank you to everyone for getting your entries in on time.  We will be
taking corrections up to the start of the races on Saturday.  Remember
that you do not need to declare what race your runners will be
participating in.  Just make sure you have your runners in what races you
want them in.  The only exception is the middle school race is for 6th,
7th, and 8th graders only!   Coach Loesel is the computer guy if you have
any questions about your entries or the results.  His e-mail address is
lloesel@rcs.k12.va.us.   Coach Loesel will be working out of the Cave
Spring team trailer during the meet if you need him.  Please do not ask
about race results until Coach Loesel as been able to impute all results
from the races.  We will get the results to you and have them posted as
soon as possible. Also please make sure that your runners do not pin there
tear away tags down under their race numbers.

Weather:
As of now, the weather looks amazing.  It will be partly cloudy with a
high in the mid 70's on Saturday.  Friday night's lows will be in the low
50's so it could be even a little chilly Saturday morning.  Please still
make sure that you runners are hydrated.  We will have a water table
set-up at the end of the gravel road past the 1 mile marker and before the
3 mile marker.  This water table will be set up way away from the main
course.  We would like it to be used for emergency only for really
dehydrated runners.  We will also have several of our alumni located
around the course in case someone gets into trouble.  The Cave Spring
Rescue Department will be on site with two ambulances along with our
athletic trainer John Swartz.  We will also have a 4 wheeler on stand by
to pick-up and runners that happen to go down or get hurt.

Parking: (Free)
Parking will be available through the second right down the access road
look for the signs.  DO NOT ENTER THROUGH THE MAIN ENTRANCE TO THE PARK!
There will be parking for cars and buses, free of charge.  The buses will
park the closest to the course with the cars in the next lot.  We have
people directing traffic starting at 6:45am.  Please look for the Red Cave
Spring Volunteer Shirts!  We should have plenty enough room for parking.

Course Markings:(Changes)  The course is Flat and Fast!
Coaches in your packets you have two maps of the course.  One will be the
map of the 5k course the other will be the middle school 3k course.  The
colored flags match up with the colors on the map.  First mile is yellow,
second blue, and third red.  The course is clearly marked with red and
white spray paint.  Teams that have run at Green Hill before will notice a
very small change in the course.  Boy Scout Troop 449 was nice enough to
build a very nice new bridge over our creek crossing.  This new bridge
will allow me to sleep at night when it rains hard this fall.  The new
bridge also cut the course a little short.  I moved back the starting line
15 meters to make up for the difference.  I spent 4 1/2 hours out there
last Sunday and it is a true 5k!!  The park also built a new gravel road
that runs by our bridge and leads to the equestrian center.  I checked and
they do have a small show out there this Saturday.  The occasional horse
trailer may pass through that backside of the park.  Roanoke County will
have a guy out there stopping traffic and we will have some of our
volunteers as well.  I have been insured that it will not be a problem for
any of our races.

Team Tents:
When you walk into the park set-up your team camps on the left side of the
gravel road near the tree line.  The gravel road will be lined with red
and black pennant flags.  This gravel road is part of the course.  We will
also have a run over section in the middle of the polo fields where you
can set up camp.  We like to keep the view of the course as open as
possible so someone will direct you where you can set-up camps.  If you
have any questions just look for the red volunteer shirts.

Trash:
In each packet you will have a trash bag.  Please keep Green Hill
beautiful and clean-up before leaving.  There is close to 20 trash cans in
the park!

Restrooms:
We will have 12 to 15 port-a-johns located near the parking area.  There
is also several random port-a-johns located all over the park.

Packet Pick-Up:
You can pick-up your team packets under the small green tent towards the
entrance to the course.  Your packet will include numbers, pins, team
rosters, starting boxes, time schedule, course records, trash bags, course
maps, and two red tickets.  There will also be addition information in the
packet about other road local races if you are interested.  This green
tent is also where all open race participates (coaches) will check-in and
pick-up their race numbers.

Box Numbers:
I attached a list of box numbers for all high school and middle schools
teams.  I mixed up the order and went every other.

T-Shirts:
T-shirt will be on-sale for $12 and will have all the teams attending
names on the back.

Concession Stand:
We will have a good size concession stand up on the stage.  We will be
selling bake goods and snacks.  There will also be alot of water and
gatoraid for sale!

Coaches Meal: (Free)
Attention coaches we will be feeding you!  In your packet you should have
two red tickets that will get you a barque sandwich, chips, and a drink.
We will have enough food for 100 people.  Feed your coaching staff but
please no bus drivers.  We hope you enjoy!  I believe lunch will start
around 11am.  Thank you again for coming!
