The Maggie Walker girls rolled out a decisive win with 26 total points at the Lee-Davis Invite against two solid teams from north of Richmond in the Northwest Region's Brooke Point and Northern Region's James Robinson by taking the first three places in the race. Maggie Walker junior Susannah Piersol won in 19:12 as she was 23 seconds ahead of sophomore teammate Clarissa Schick, who had ran number one from the team last week at the Newport News Invite. Natalie Davis rounded out the top three sweep with a time of 20:06 for third place as she was just ahead of Brooke Point sophomore Kellie Hall. Hall led Brooke Point, a team racing better than expected with top returnee Brittany Wilhelm out, with a time of 20:11 for fourth place. Brooke Point (51 pts) finished ahead in a close battle for team runner-up honors with James Robinson (3rd, 53 pts) as only two points separated the teams.
Running very well were the James Robinson boys with a total of six athletes in the first dozen places as both Robinson seniors Martin Wester (2nd, 16:44) and David Stem (3rd, 16:48). The Rams were easy winners with 35 points. Mills Godwin's Brian Welch (pictured right by John Herzog) pulled away firtually without ease to win his first major invitational in 16:28 at Pole Green's 5K course.
