The threat of snow on Saturday kept some from making the trip to Lynchburg for this weekend's Asics Invitational, but those present on Friday evening were able to make for some outstanding performances. Mountain View's Olu Olamigoke (pictured left by John Herzog) bested previous triple jump state leader David Wilson of George Washington with a US #3 mark of 47'8". Meanwhile, Charlottesville's Justin Jackson joined Chris Copeland in the 6'8" club this season in the high jump. Peter Dorrell broke 4:20 for another time in the 1600 as he led from start to finish in 4:19.88 and Tasia Potasinski crept closer to five minutes with a state best 1600 of 5:04.69. The Atlee girls top vaulters switched their usual orders with Rachael Hawks as the winner clearing 11'6" for the second meet in a row and Emma Dejarnette at second in 11'0". North Carolina ruled the sprints with winners in the 300 meter dashes as Kelsey McCorkle won the 300 meter dash in 40.91 and has the top time in the 55 meter dash prelims at 7.30. More to come from Liberty including photos, videos, and interviews.
