| Western Albemarle junior Steven Thompson outdid homestanding David Hodulich of Lake Braddock (12-6) as he cleared a height of 13 feet to win the event at Lake Braddock, which was 3 inches shy of the clearance that one him the AA state indoor title last winter. | Western Albemarle sophomore Ashley Early who last year did not even compete in track during the indoor season as she was a cheerleader has quickly made her way up to the top of the ranks in the state in pole vaulting after her performance at Lake Braddock, where she cleared a personal best of height of 11-0, which is also a state best mark. In the process, Early defeated last year's AA state indoor champion in the pole vault, Randi Lawson of Appomattox, who finished second in the event with a personal best height as well at 10-3. |
