Lake Braddock makes a successful return trip to NY Armory

NEW YORK, NY -- The Lake Braddock track team returned to compete at the Stanner Games held at the New York Armory for the second consecutive year after a very successful trip to the Big Apple last winter. The Bruins had another great meet at the Armory with individuals and relays posting strong performances.

Lake Braddock junior Ashley Haislip, who last week tied for the national lead in the high jump with a 5-9 clearance at the DCIAA Invitational, tied her own meet record at the Stanner Games that she set last year as she reached a height of 5-6.

In the girls' 1000 meter run, another junior for Lake Braddock, Kelsey Snowden, became the first Virginia girl to break 3 minutes in the event this season as she posted the state's fastest time with a third place finish clocking of 2:59.70.

In the boys' mile, Danny Howick posted the state's second fastest time as he finished runner-up in the race with a time of 4:23.91.

The Lake Braddock 4x800 meter relays also posted swift times as the girls' relay team finished second overall in a time of 9:45.48, while the Lake Braddock boys were clocked at an official time of 8:14.26 for fifth place.
