This Past Week's Recap and This Week's Preview!

This past weekend was epic up in Philly! Lake Braddock Girls' DMR, Loudoun Valley Boys' DMR, and Weini Kelati all were victorious. Jealen Williams (Phoebus - 400H), TC Williams' Boys 4x1 and 4x4, and Nansemond River's 4x100 all also won gold watches. So needless to say it was a great showing for Team VA.

We hope you got a chance to see the leaderboard though before this past weekend because Penn Relays produced new state leading times in seven out of eight relays run. T.C. Williams took over the top spot in both sprint relays running 40.56 and 3:13.55 while Lake Braddock ran 7:46.57 in the 4x800 and Loudoun Valley went 10:00.01 in the DMR.

On the girls' side of things Nansemond River blazed a 3:45.42 in the 4x400 while cross town rival Western Branch went 9:03.53 in the 4x800. Lake Braddock though completely destroyed their competition and the state leaderboard running a 11:36.52 in the distance medley relay with Kate Murphy anchoring in 4:37.

Speaking of fast distance times... Rachel McArthur (Patriot) finished a close runner-up in the Mile going 4:50.80. Over in the boys' events Gannon Willcutts ran 8:25 for 3K while Brandon McGorty ran 4:15 in the Mile.

It was also a complete VA domination on the fastest split list at Penn this weekend. Faith Ross (Western Branch) anchored the 4x800 in 2:10.87 which ranks as the third fastest split of the competition. She was outdone though by both Kate Murphy (4:37) and Drew Hunter (4:00) who both had the fastest DMR splits.

T.C. Williams studs Noah and Josephus Lyles both put on a clinic though in the 4x400 splitting 45.1 and 45.6 respectively. Joephus' 45.1 split is a Penn Relays record for qualifying while Noah's 45.6 was the fastest in the finals.

Over in the field event competition at Penn Relays Benedict Draghi (Washington-Lee) launched a 62-3.25 to finish  6th in the shot put with a mark that now ranks him 6th all-time in VA.

This next weekend though, if weather cooperates with us, should be just as big.

T.C. Williams Invitational

The big one here is 100% the best 200 of the year between Noah and Josephus Lyles. Right now, Josephus has a nice little winning streak against his brother, something no one else in the country can say.
