Colonial District team champions Douglas Freeman boys and Deep Run girls are the favorites for Wednesday and Thursday's Central Region Championships. Hurdler Michael Quash, distance runner Lewis McPherson, and quarter miler Ulrick Smith will lead the Rebels against challengers Petersburg, Midlothian, Lee-Davis, Cosby, and others. The Deep Run girls will be chased by Dominion District schools Midlothian and Manchester.
