There are not many girls throwing over 40 feet in the shot put in Virginia, but Park View High School is fortunate to have two over the mark with Natalie Baird and Lauren Tomlinson (pictured above by John Herzog). The defending AA state outdoor champions should pick up a good portion of their points in the throwing events at the state meet.
The Jefferson District boys are looking quite dominant heading into this week's Region II Champions as the top four ranked teams in the region happen to come from the district led by AA state indoor champions Western Albemarle and recent Jefferson District champions over Western in Louisa County. Charlottesville and Orange County are also ranked among the top four teams in the region from the Jefferson District. There is a bit more variety among the top girls teams in Region II with the Northwestern District's Brentsville girls having a slight edge over Dulles District champions Heritage.
