It is very hard, nearly impossible, to make the step from being good to being a star. This season with her first race, Noel Palmer showed us she is making that step this XC season and not looking back.
She opened her season up at Knights Crossing with a stellar 18:21.30 win in the sweltering heat. She followed that up last week with a new VA #2 time of 17:56 to lower her personal best by 25 seconds!

That performance and a whole lot of support from her teammates and fans got her the title of performance of the week. She tallied 5,581 votes and 49.46% of the votes for the win.
Her coaches have said it and she has shown it that this season is different. After joining the VHSL last year the evidence is there that Noel is constantly stepping up her game. She is battling against the best and one of the few athletes in Virginia that can say they are undefeated this season.
Of the girls that have raced this season, only four are still undefeated through the fifth week of the season and Noel is one of those ladies. She is definitely going to put that to the test this week as she will toe the line against Heather Holt, Kate Murphy, and a whole bunch of talented runners at the Great American XC Festival.
From her stride to her attitude you can tell this is a different season for Noel. She has already broken 18:00 this season and have at least two big races in the next three weeks where she will have chances to lower that personal best even more.
Noel does not shy away from any competition and this weekend is going to be a big test for her as she continues to climb to the top of the state and national leaderboards.
