Five Virginia boys teams and four Virginia girls teams are featured in the latest cross country regional team rankings by Marc Bloom and Rich Gonzalez for the Southeast Region. Oakton boys dropped from #1 to #2 in the region, while Jamestown gained a spot from #6 to #5. Thomas Jefferson boys fell 3 spots as well from #3 to #6. Two new Virginia squads are ranked though with Atlee in the #9 spot and Western Branch rounding out the top 10 with the #10 ranking.
SE #4 Midlothian and SE #7 Oakton girls maintain their rankings from the previous week, while the Lake Braddock and Blacksburg girls make their first appearances in the rankings this fall as the #8 and #9 ranked squads in the Southeast region respectively.
The state is certainly represented well in the latest regional rankings with 9 of the 20 ranked teams in the entire region from the Commonwealth of Virginia. These schools will be tested in the coming weeks with big showdowns looming at Oatlands and Maymont, while Manhattan on October 11th again appears to be the meet which will give a clearer picture if Nike Cross Nationals is a reachable goal.
