Oatlands Invite Varsity B Girls Race: Grochowski steals win from Marzen, while TJ girls show potential despite not racing at full strength
While competing without one of their top runners in sophomore Lisa Junta, the VA #3 ranked Thomas Jefferson girls opted to bypass to racing head to head in a loaded varsity A race and instead control their race plans by jumping in the varsity B division instead. It would have been exciting to see them match up against other top ranked schools including regional rival Oakton after their great race last weekend against VA #2 Blacksburg, but Thomas Jefferson girls still ran impressively without Junta by placing four runners among the top 12 including two of the top three in Stephanie Marzen (2nd, 19:43) and Sarah Stites (3rd, 19:49) for a team score of 52 points to win the B division easily.
